As a material handling engineering company, the core staff had come into Retrotech with hundreds of man-years experience in every industry that incorporated ASRS strategies. Over 200 SR machines (cranes) have been retrofitted along with every aspect of an ASRS that may require upgrade or replacement.

 
Retrotech has delivered new ASRS and material handling systems since 1992. Unit and pallet load systems exceed 100,000 positions delivered turn-key. Case handling systems exceed 30,000 positions delivered. In addition to Retrotech’s licensed product, ACTIV, the Woodson line has been added for high-density storage. Unit and mini-load SR machines have been installed with four manufacturers currently represented and another three manufacturers available to cover every possible application & integration.

1994 - Delivery of high transaction, stable ASRS and warehouse management (wms) software using relational database engines and stable UNIX operating systems.
1992 - Delivery of a (4) site system order of ACTIV Systems to one of the world’s leading consumer goods manufacturers in the USA and Canada.
1991 - Exclusive license holder of ACTIV Systems for North America.
1990 - Retrofit of every domestic ASRS manufacturer in North America.
1988 - Retrotech completes the largest ASRS retrofit project installed in the USA
1987 - Development of custom SR machines for replacing obsolete units.
1986 - Retrotech exceeds all booking estimatesfor ASRS retrofits services.

Present Successes
In 2004/2005, Retrotech has extended its customer support network to better serve its existing base, including some 30 Woodson sites. The introduction of a new Linux platform has established a highly cost-effective replacement for the stable UNIX platforms of past years. High transaction systems that require no reboots for months are available at less than half the cost. The successful incorporation of high performance European SR machines has allowed Retrotech to deliver unparalleled performance at competitive pricing. The ability to give more throughputs per dollar has been a true benefit to clients. Last, the emergence of Retrotech as the top supplier of large scale integrated ASRS in the beef and meat products market has been proof of the value-added Retrotech’s software designs and integration skills bring to the high volume, high turn order fulfillment markets.
 
Experience
Retrotech has delivered projects in every SIC that has used ASRS as a part of their WIP (work in process) or Distribution strategy. Retrotech software and controls has made 100% tracking and trace ability for food and pharmaceutical possible in ASRS applications, as well as the broad range of applications where the right product in the right place is critical to operations success. Frozen and refrigerated foods have been a long time specialty, particularly as annual turns approach 25 and more, with some as high as 180-200 per year.

Food & Beverage – Retrotech has projects in bakeries, snack foods, cereal, sauces, beverage including milk, meat processing and value added handling, frozen and dry goods distribution and most recently, flash freezing for pallets.

Pharmaceutical – Every aspect of WIP storage and finished goods ASRS applications have been performed with careful attention to designs that allow 100% verification of product tracking throughout the material movement and storage process.

Consumer Goods – Retrotech has developed new and retrofit solutions for the fast turn consumer goods products in household products. The mass shipment demands in seasonal areas are managed from build to shipping custom truckloads.

Electronics and Aerospace – From parts service to kitting and finished goods, Retrotech has supplied ASRS applications that include work in process and testing to final packaged goods shipments.

Fibers and textiles – From WIP applications in handling bales and cans as well as finished goods handling of rolls and boxes, Retrotech has worked in many different plants and processes.

Paper and kindred products – From rolls to finished cases of slit material, Retrotech has developed solutions that incorporated

Metal and Durable Goods – A variety of WIP and kitting projects for appliance, air conditioning, meters and other associated process buffering and control have been done by Retrotech.

Military & Government – Critical mission systems have been refurbished for Navy and Army bases. From simple retrofits to highly complex systems have been delivered. Project work for special applications such as radioactive waste transport and control have been done under strict government guidelines.

Chemical Industry – A variety of distribution projects in the oil industry as well as handling other oil by-products has given Retrotech skills in managing flammable operations with automation.
