Case
Flow Racks , Pallet Flow Racking
Retrotech utilizes case flow and pallet
flow rack systems to support picking operations. Case and
pallet flow rack support high-activity replenishment complimenting
ASRS letdown operations.
Case Flow Racks, a pick-to-tote
system with case flow racks is used to store small units
or boxes. Case flow racks allow
units to be refilled at one side of the rack and picked from
the other. This way, units can be retrieved on a first-in,
first-out basis.
The main advantage of case flow racks
over shelves is that items of one sku are stored deep instead
of wide. This results
in a higher pick density per storage
aisle, which can help reduce the walking distance between skus being picked. Although
case flow racks require a higher investment than shelf racks, savings can
be made on operating costs as a case flow racking system allows higher
picker productivity.
