Database Administrator

Status: Salaried (Exempt)

Basic Function:
Support the daily operation of, Databases, Internal built Applications, and Internet/Intranet services provided by the corporation. This includes the maintenance, development, and operation of, database systems for use by employees, applications developed internally for use by employees, and all computing services made available to the public or to employees through the Internet, such as worldwide web services and FTP services. Provide assistance with the creation of databases, applications, or Internet services through the development of such systems, writing, testing and design of software to support these systems, and development of applications and software to manage these systems. Participate in teams for extending existing systems and developing new systems. Oversees and provides recommendations for equipment and software required to support these systems and services.

Requirements: 
  • Investigate and resolve application functionality related issues and provide first level support and troubleshooting of our SyteLine ERP, CRM, and Microsoft Project Server systems.
  • Analyze data contained in the corporate database and identify data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems and implement solutions.
  • Provide SQL administration in live and test environments.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications.
  • Coordinate application development for multiple internal projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT software projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing systems.
  • Make recommendations on development or extension of custom applications.
  • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes.
  • Assist in managing an outsource relationship for 3rd party application development and programming consultants as needed.
  • Assist network/systems administrator with application installation and testing.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with the IT team to discuss progress and issues to be resolved, and report progress on a regular basis to the IT Manager.
  • Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects.
  • Manage daily operation of Internet services and content, insuring maximum uptime and managing outages as needed, by working with the Marketing department on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities: 
  • Should have a minimum of 4 years of technology experience with at least 5 years hands-on technical roles in the field and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.
  • Technical experience with systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support.
  • Good background in Data Base design in Microsoft SQL and Access.
  • Background in Microsoft .NET, Visual Basic, Excel, Word, Outlook, HTML, and Crystal Reports.
  • Good working knowledge skills with Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Working knowledge of Infor SyteLine ERP, Microsoft Project Server, Drupal CMS, and Citrix XenDesktop would be an asset
  • Good working knowledge of web standards
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities;
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
